On June 28 the Voters' Assembly of Ascension Lutheran Church elected Donna Lucas to be the next Principal of Ascension Day School. In a phone interview shortly after the meeting, Mrs. Lucas accepted the position. She is scheduled to begin working here on July 20.

Donna Lucas is a graduate of Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska, and has 26 years experience in Lutheran Schools, 10 of those as a principal. She has served on the School Cabinet for the Pacific Southwest District. Donna has taught at First Lutheran, Culver City, CA; Concordia, Cincinnati, OH; Greenfield Peace, Detroit, MI; St. Paul, St. Louis, MO; Good Shepherd Lutheran, Simi Valley, CA. She also served 10 years as principal at Zion Lutheran School, Glendale, CA. She received the Flock of Eagles Award for Excellence as an urban Lutheran elementary school administrator. As a pastor’s wife, she has lead several women’s retreat over the years. She enjoys the excitement that serving the Lord brings and all the different opportunities the Lord has set before her. Donna is the wife of Pastor Glenn Lucas and the proud mother of Terry, Micah and Aaron. As Donna looks back over her life, she has seen the Lord prepare her for the different moments of her life. It is an exciting journey.

She writes: "I am passionate about the ministry of Lutheran Schools and the impact that our schools can have on the lives of children and their families. It is an awesome responsibility to minister to children and families on a daily basis and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them."

Mrs. Lucas' husband, the Rev. Glen Lucas, has accepted a call to the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod as Director of Mission Development. They will be moving here from California in July.
