Advent – which begins on Sunday, December 3 – is the season we prepare our hearts and homes to receive the coming Christ.  Here’s what you can look forward to at Ascension:

Hanging of the Greens, Saturday, December 2, 8 am
We will prepare our Church facilities for the Advent/Christmas season by putting up the wreaths and trees in the Sanctuary.  If we have enough helpers we will even tackle the big tree in the lower Narthex!  Many hands will make for lite work.  And ... during the decorating we will pause for a brief “Hanging of the Greens” devotion.  Join us!

Devotional Booklets: “Glory to God in the Highest”, by Chad Bird.
These devotional booklets will be available on a table in the Narthex starting Sunday, December 3.  Daily devotions will also be emailed to everyone on the congregational email list.  Not getting Ascension email?  Send your address to the office at ascenluth@aol.com.

Would you like to CHIME in?

During the Sunday School led worship at 9 am on December 24, bell chimers will help to lead 4 songs at the Manger. If you would like to be a part of the Ascension Chimers, there will be two 30 minute practices after the Sunday School/Bible study hour on December 3 and 10. You do not have to know music to play a chime.  If you love Christmas Hymns – you’ll be great at it. Two rehearsals 11:30-noon in the Sunday School classroom upstairs. Please join us.

Advent Noon Prayer Services

At noon on Wednesdays in Advent – December 6, 13, and 20 – we will have brief Advent prayer services.  Meditations will focus on the threefold coming of Christ: Christ came as the Babe of Bethlehem (12/6), Christ comes into our hearts as Lord and Savior (12/13), Christ will come as the Fulfillment of God’s promises (12/20).
